Our volunteers carry out practical conservation work on a regular basis all over our Partnership area, as well as helping with office-based projects. This gives people a chance to make a difference to the environment around them, and makes them feel more involved in their local area.

Parish Councils and local communities often come to the KSCP for advice on projects, such as managing areas of land in community ownership, for recreation and education. Such areas can become wildlife areas or community green spaces. The KSCP advise and co-ordinate practical work where necessary.

KSCP have tool kits that can help local people make a difference in their communities. These kits contain a range of tools from bow saws to spades, as well as all the protective clothing needed to use the tools safely, and can be borrowed from local Countryside Management Partnerships, including KSCP. Partnership staff work with schools on projects such enhancing their school grounds for environmental education with things like ponds or wildlife areas, as well as providing education activities. We also get involved with youth centres, scouts and guides, and further education establishments.

We currently run practical conservation sessions for mental health charity Take Off. We take small groups of people with mental health issues to tranquil rural locations to carry out simple conservation work.

We have run health walks and led cycling events with funding from Kent Sport.

Our art-based and creative projects often involve communities in the design process, and where possible we encourage local artists, sculptors and photographers to be involved in such projects. Click to see more about arts.
