FlowFilm
A community film-making and creative writing project based on rivers, for young people aged 10 to 15 and adults.
FlowFilm was a river-based film-making project for young people and adults. It ran for two years, during the summer holidays of 2018 and 2019. People taking part had the opportunity to work alongside a professional filmmaker (Jasper Bouverie of Funder Films CIC) on making short films, harnessing their creativity and learning skills such as storyboarding, shooting and editing.
They learnt how to use professional software to make their film (length 1 to 3 minutes), during a short series of workshops, editing clips shot on phones and tablets and adding sound, music and titles. Films could be any style or theme but had to feature the River Stour in some way.
In tandem with the FlowFilm workshops for adults we ran a series of creative writing activities called WordFlow, with Victoria Field of The Poetry Practice. The poems and other writing produced were used as inspiration for films.
FlowFilm has finished but you can view finished films on the Our Stour YouTube channel.
A compilation film, with clips from the 2019 workshops will be available soon.
