Improving habitat for crayfish

Improving the habitat for our rare native white-clawed crayfish entailed some hard work.

The Ashford Volunteers did a phenomenal job moving 12 tonnes of local ragstone rock from where it was dropped off, to carefully placing each rock in the river (4 different points) to provide areas of refugia for the animals.

Heavy work at times, but a lot of fun too!
