The mammoth 1000m2 pond restoration at The Woodland Trust ‘ s #Dering Wood is now complete!

While removing the layers of silt, the contractors discovered three old pits and waybars (probably dug to remove clay) which you can see in the photograph. Once the winter rains fill this goliath pond up it will be an asset to wildlife, but especially to the local population of Great Crested Newts. While the silt is drying out and the site is slippery, we do ask please that you admire the pond from a safe distance.
