Larkey Valley Wood
Coppicing work at in beautiful sunshine was continued at Larkey Valley Wood today. Our team of volunteers helped clear the previous week’s felled trees and added material to the dead hedges.
These dead hedges we have been making over the past few months, will provide habitats and hiding places for a variety of creatures, as well as food for invertebrates.
However, the main purpose of our coppicing work has been to allow sunlight to reach the woodland floor, allowing a range of plant species to grow. This will in-turn provide vital food for a range of insects.
