WHAT WE DID
KSCP visited four school over 2 years to provide specialist support and advice on biodiversity enhancements. We worked closely with staff to transform unused ‘grey’ areas into sensory and functional green spaces. We delivered the design, and implementation of the scheme.
BENEFITS
The planting of sensory perennial herbs, pollinator friendly plants and vegetables created productive, circular spaces where children could watch plants develop from seeds, and perhaps, even go on to cook their own produce in cooking classes. The introduction of water features such as a raised pond and dipping tank for collecting rainwater (fitted with a waterfall for an added sensory experience) created interactive and engaging spaces that can be used for fun class activities!
PARTNERSHIP
The programme, funded by the Department for Education has been promoted and co-ordinated by KCC. We worked alongside KCC to support schools from initial planning through to implementation.
