First ‘get together’ for Victoria park Conservation Volunteers

Victoria Park Conservation Volunteers get together for the first time at Watercress Community Orchard. As part of the council’s Heritage Lottery Funded project – the volunteer group has formed to carry out practical work around the park that will benefit wildlife.

Guided by Diane Comley from KSCP the volunteers did the first round of looking after the orchard’s many fruit trees; weeding and mulching; we will be back later in the winter to prune most of the trees. The volunteers also planted approx. 300 spring bulbs that will bring even more pollinating insects into the area next spring. It was a lot of work so well done everyone!
